A man was struck and killed while riding a bicycle on a Mobile street late Tuesday afternoon, according to Mobile police.

Officers responded to the scene at the intersection of Moffett Road and Pine Grove Avenue about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday.

When they arrived, they found the bicyclist — identified as 54-year-old Scott Coburn — dead from injuries sustained in a collision with a vehicle.

Preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle was heading west on Moffett Road and, as it approached the left turn lane at Pine Grove Avenue, collided with Coburn who was riding the bike in the center turn lane, traveling east.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was not found to be impaired. The accident remains under investigation, police said.
