Bonus bets do not pay back the original stake if they win. They only pay out the profits. That means you may not win back everything you lost on your qualifying wager, even if you win with your bonus bet.
For example, if you lose $100, you will get five $20 bonus bets. If you win a $20 bonus bet at -125 odds, you will receive $16 in winnings, but you will not get back the $20 value of the bonus bet. For comparison, an equivalent $20 cash bet would pay out $36 — the $16 winnings plus the original $20 stake.
If you win five bets like that and get $16 each time, you would end up with $80 and still be down $20 from the original $100 you lost. The only way to win back everything you lost is by winning bonus bets at odds of +100 or longer, which would return at least the same value as the bonus bet.
Of course, bets with +100 odds or longer are hard to win. It’s especially hard to win five in a row, so there is a good chance you will still be in the red after using your bonus bets. As long as you understand that going in, there is still great value in this BetMGM promo.
