Beth Thames: Grandson never knew people that old could still have that much fun

The snowbirds are halfway through their annual Gulf of Mexico stay. Snowbirds are older Americans who migrate to the balmy Alabama and Florida beaches each winter. They come from freezing Michigan, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. They peel off their sweaters as soon as they get here and pull on their new tee shirts. And the tee shirts say it all:

ā€œIā€™d rather shovel sand than snow.ā€
