Best prop bets to make for Dak Prescott and George Pickens: Is our expert on the hype train?

After three relatively successful 12-5 campaigns, save the ongoing playoff shortcomings, the Dallas Cowboys took a huge step back in 2024 when Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury.

Prescott’s absence exacerbated what was already looking like an underwhelming season; however, he is fully healthy entering the Cowboys’ 2025 campaign, and the team also added an uber-talented receiver in George Pickens.

The hype about the Prescott-Pickens connection is already through the roof before they’ve even done anything. In fact, a ‘X’ user posted a video the day before the first day of Cowboys training camp saying Dallas’ first play of its 2025 training camp was a long TD from Prescott to Pickens.

ESPN aired the now-viral video. There was only one small issue: it wasn’t Pickens in the video. It was a video from last year of a pass to Brandin Cooks, who is no longer on the team. Oops.

If that’s any indication, the Prescott-Pickens bandwagon looks like it will be full by the NFL Kickoff Game against the Eagles on Sept. 4. With that said, let’s get into my best Dak Prescott and George Pickens prop bets to make ahead of the 2025 season.

Best prop bets to make for Dak Prescott and George Pickens

Dak Prescott Over 25.5 passing touchdowns

The Cowboys didn’t do a whole lot to improve their rushing attack, but they did add rising star receiver George Pickens, who could help Prescott return to Pro Bowl form.

Between Pickens, Jake Ferguson, and CeeDee Lamb, Prescott will have plenty of weapons to sling the ball around the field. Additionally, Dallas ranked third in passing attempts per game last year and didn’t have Prescott for half of the season.

Therefore, it’s not unreasonable to expect a similar pass-heavy approach in 2025, especially with one of the weaker running back rooms in the league.

As long as Prescott and his main targets can stay healthy, he should be able to throw 26 or more touchdowns.

Dak Prescott to win Comeback Player of the Year

Odds: +300 at FanDuel

While the Cowboys’ rough 2024 season is still fresh in the minds of fans and experts alike, Prescott had just come off a campaign in which he finished second in MVP voting (2023).

With the addition of Pickens, Prescott now has a legitimate WR2 to alleviate some of the pressure from Lamb. With the addition of Pickens, Prescott now has a legitimate WR2 to alleviate some of the pressure from Lamb.

While the Cowboys’ rough 2024 season is still fresh in the minds of fans and experts alike, Prescott had just come off a campaign in which he finished second in MVP voting (2023).

If Prescott returns to that form, his Comeback Player of the Year odds are not only justified, but advantageous to bettors.

George Pickens over 900.5 receiving yards

Odds: -110 at DraftKings

Through his first three seasons in the NFL, Pickens has been stuck in wide receiver purgatory: Pittsburgh.

While Pittsburgh used to be a terrific destination for receivers, particularly during the Ben Roethlisberger era, they have since struggled to find consistent play under center.

Now, Pickens enters the perfect situation in Dallas, as the Cowboys boast a high-octane, pass-heavy offense.

As mentioned above, the Cowboys ranked third in passing attempts per game last season despite being without Prescott for half of the year.

Pittsburgh can’t say the same, as it ranked 29th in pass attempts and 26th in passing yards per game. And even better, Pickens will see less pressure from defenses, as they will have to balance covering him and Lamb.

In Pittsburgh, Pickens was the focal point for defenses, making life on him even tougher. Don’t be shocked to see Pickens reach 1,000+ receiving yards for the second time in his career this upcoming season.

Dallas Cowboys 2025 season outlook

The Cowboys’ upcoming 2025 campaign will almost certainly be determined by the play of their offensive and defensive lines.

Last season, the Cowboys ranked 27th in rushing yards per game, 30th in rush yards per attempt, 29th in opponent rushing yards per game, and 28th in opponent rush yards per attempt.

In short, they were consistently dominated in the trenches on both sides of the ball. That must change if the Cowboys want to return to the playoffs this season.

This offseason, Dallas did a solid job fortifying its receiving core by adding George Pickens, who will form a dynamic duo with superstar receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Additionally, Prescott will return under center at full health, which is a positive sign for the team’s offensive improvement.

However, it will be the play at the line of scrimmage that will determine the amount of success, or lack thereof, the Cowboys have in 2025.
