NFL Week 5 Bengals vs. Cardinals odds preview

Cincinnati is off to a surprisingly sluggish 1-3 start and ranks 31st in the league in scoring (12.3 points per game) and dead last in total yards (236 per outing).

Playing through a nagging calf injury, Burrow is completing only 57.6 percent of his passes, with two TDs and two interceptions and has been sacked eight times.

The Cards, meanwhile, are also 1-3. But new coach Jonathan Gannon’s squad has been much more competitive than expected after entering the season dead last in the majority of league power ratings.

QB Josh Dobbs, acquired via trade late in the preseason, has completed 70.7 percent of his passes for 814 yards, four TDs and no interceptions. He’s also rushed for 141 yards and a score.

Cincy, though, was a 3-point consensus favorite as of midweek with a game total hovering around 44.5 points.

Bengals vs. Cardinals best bet: Bengals -3 (-104 or better)

Burrow didn’t hesitate this week, labeling Sunday’s contest a “must-win” for his disappointing squad which has played in the last two AFC Championship Games.

Expect another gritty performance from the Cardinals, but look for the Bengals’ clear talent advantage to shine through Sunday in a road triumph.

Bengals vs. Cardinals top player prop: Burrow over 251.5 passing yards (-110 or better)

Burrow has failed to top 222 passing yards in three out of four games so far this season. That only happened six times in 20 games last season, including the playoffs.

Even if No. 2 WR Tee Higgins is unable to play — or is markedly comprised — due to his Week 4 rib injury, look for Burrow to back up his pre-game urgency with his best aerial outing of the season and soar over his posted total against the Cardinals’ 10th-worst passing defense vs. opposing QBs (263.8 yards per game).
