Belvita recalls 2 breakfast items after possible nut contamination; Here’s what you need to know

There is a voluntary recall for Belvita breakfast products.

Mondelez, which makes Belvita, announced the recall Monday due to the possibility that they may contain undeclared peanuts resulting from cross-contact on a single manufacturing line.

The recall is for the following:

  • Belvita Breakfast Sandwich Cinnamon Brown Sugar with Vanilla Creme
  • Belvita Breakfast Sandwich Dark Chocolate Creme

The products with a “best when used by” date prior to Feb. 26, 2024.

“We became aware of this issue during an internal manufacturing inspection, when we found the potential presence of peanut protein residue on the line used to make these products,” Mondelez said in the statement.

People with a severe sensitivity or a peanut allergy who consume the products may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.

According to Mondelez, there have been three unconfirmed reports of possible allergic reactions related to the recalled products. Consumers with a peanut allergy should not eat the recalled products and should discard them.
