Beloved TV star on his way to Alabama: ‘This show comes from my heart’

“Glee” fans in Alabama will want to mark their calendars for Feb. 1, 2026.

Matthew Morrison, one of the beloved stars of the TV series, will be in Auburn on that date, appearing in concert at the Gogue Performing Arts Center.

The 7 p.m. show at the Woltosz Theatre is part of the 2025-2026 season at the Gogue. Season subscriptions go on sale June 24, according to the Gogue website. Single tickets for Morrison’s show will be available Aug. 14. Prices haven’t been announced.

Morrison, 46, an actor, singer, and dancer, has theater credits aplenty, including the lead role in “Finding Neverland” on Broadway. But he’s best known for the TV role of Will Schuester, an amiable glee club instructor at the fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio.

Morrison was a key part of the cast in the musical-comedy series, which included Lea Michele, Jane Lynch, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss and other breakout stars.

“Glee” became a phenomenon and aired for six seasons on FOX, 2009-2015. Devoted fans of the show are known as “Gleeks,” and the show is credited with spurring a revival for glee clubs in high schools across the country.

But concertgoers shouldn’t expect to see Morrison revive the character of “Mr. Schue” on stage in Auburn. He’s playing the Gogue as part of his “Rhythms & Revelations” solo tour, promising fans an emotional experience akin to “a car wash for your soul.”

The setlist will include Broadway favorites, standards and well-known songs such as “Smile,” “You’ll Be in My Heart” and “Rocketman” according to Morrison’s social media posts.

“In this show, I’m not just here to perform: I’m here to spark something within you,“ Morrison says in his tour statement. ”I want you to leave with a sense of inquiry, curiosity, and wonder about your own life. Many concerts entertain, but I invite you to take a closer look inside. To see the beating heart of music and dance, not just as art forms but as reflections of our deepest selves. This show comes from my heart — it’s a piece of my soul laid bare. I’m stepping outside of all the characters I’ve played, shedding every mask, and diving deep into my authenticity and vulnerability.”

Morrison performed the show at several venues in spring 2025, and is set to play more dates starting in October.

Morrison was nominated for Emmy, Golden Globe, Teen Choice and Screen Actors Guild awards for his work on “Glee,” and earned a 2009 Satellite Award for Best Actor in a Series, Comedy or Musical.

He’s not a frequent visitor to Alabama, and the Gogue concert will mark a rare appearance for Morrison in the state.
