Beloved burger chain abruptly closes locations

A beloved Florida-based burger chain has abruptly shuttered its remaining locations.

EVOS Feel Great Food, a restaurant known for its healthy approach to hamburgers, suddenly shuttered its last three locations in Carrollwood, St. Petersburg, and South Tampa.

EVOS specializes in air-baked food, a standout among fast-casual burger restaurants that prepare dishes using deep fryers, gas grills, and oil, reports the Daily Meal. In addition to burgers, EVOS was also known for its gourmet wraps, hand-tossed salads, and nutrition bowls, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

The company boasted 50% to 70% less fat and calories than other restaurants and no trans fats.

According to the Florida Business Observer, a statement from the company sent out this week did not give a reason for closing, nor say how many employees would be impacted.

Another burger chain weighs closing locations

In March, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers announced it was considering closing dozens of restaurants.

On an earnings call that month, the company’s CEO G.J. Hart said that the burger chain was evaluating about 70 underperforming locations, according to Nations Restaurant News.
