Bassist thanks Jason Isbell for ‘space and grace’ to take a break

A member of acclaimed Alabama singer-songwriter Jason Isbell’s band is taking a break, thanking Isbell for “the grace and space” to deal with some “old-school traumas.”

Jimbo Hart, bassist in The 400 Unit, gave fans the word in a Sunday morning Tweet: “Hey y’all, you won’t see me for the first week of this next tour. I’m taking some time to take care of my mental health and resolve some old-school traumas,” he wrote. “Thank you, @jasonisbell, for giving me the grace and space to allow this process.”

Hart, who’s from Muscle Shoals, said in a follow-up tweet that he’s “super stoked to return to y’all as my true self. I can’t wait to rock out with y’all again!!!”

The message received a flood of supporting responses. “Jimbo I love you, my brother,” wrote Isbell. “We’ll hold down the fort and celebrate your return.”

According to Isbell’s website, a run of tour dates starts June 15 in Arkansas. On June 23-24, Isbell is to play sold-out shows at Avondale Brewing Co. in Birmingham.
