The fifth-ranked Auburn girls basketball team raced to a big first-half lead, thanks to a stellar defensive effort, and then held off No. 10 Central-Phenix City 47-38 at home in a key Class 7A, Area 4 contest on Friday. The Tigers earned a season sweep of Central with the win.

Auburn led 25-11 at the half, holding the rival Red Devils to 4-for-27 shooting from the floor.
