Basketball roundup: Midfield edges Wenonah; Sand Rock girls are 3-0
Midfield won two of three games last week, including a 52-49 thriller in a home game against Wenonah on Friday.
Sophomore guard DuJuan McKinney had a big week for Class 3A Midfield, leading his team in scoring in two of three games. The 5-foot-8 guard scored 18 points and had 3 assists in the win over Wenonah. Junior guard Armonie Franklin scored 14 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 3 assists. Aaron Adams-Martin had 7 rebounds to go with his 8 points for Midfield.
On Tuesday, Midfield lost at Fairfield, 70-56. McKinney led Midfield with 16 points. Adams-Martin scored 13 points and had 5 steals. Vincent Burrell grabbed 7 rebounds.
On Monday, the Patriots beat Montevallo 49-41 in a home game. Brandon Riddle led the winners with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Jaden Sellers and McKinney scored 8 points apiece.

Pelham 73, Prattville Christian 46
Prattville Christian dropped to 1-1 on the year with the road loss on Friday.
Collier Connell led the visitors with 21 points with 4 steals. Cade Segars scored 13 points with 6 assists. Segars also drew four charging fouls.
The Panthers play Pike Road on Monday in the Coach Larry Chapman Foundation Tip Off Classic at Montgomery Academy.
HUNTSVILLE/TENNESSEE VALLEY
Hartselle 51, John Carroll 47
The Tigers came from behind in the second half to earn the win over John Carroll in the Marx Optical Thanksgiving Classic at Priceville. John Carroll outscored Hartselle 13-11 in the second period after a 16-all first quarter, but the Tigers pulled ahead 38-35 after three periods.

Rylan Smothers led Hartselle with 17 points. Ty Odom finished with 14, with a pair of 3-pointers.
Jack Maloney led John Carroll with 17 points, 12 in the second half. Aden Malpass scored 15 for the Cavaliers with 12 in the first half, including three 3-pointers.
Booneville (Miss.) 52, Florence 51
The Falcons fell short on Friday and dropped to 1-1 on the year with the loss at home to Booneville, Miss.
Bryant James poured in 28 points with eight 3-pointers in the loss. Kedrick Triplett added 10 points for Florence.
Florence plays Columbia on Monday at Bob Jones in the N2Hoops Thanksgiving Tournament.
James Clemens 77, Sparkman 52
Noah Gorman scored 19 points to lead the Jets to the win on Friday at Sparkman. London Townsend scored 15 for James Clemens and Bryce Mason had 10.
Caleb Lightford scored 17 for Sparkman (1-3). Orlandis Beale scored 12 and Jayden Bass added 10 for the Senators.
MOBILE/COASTAL ALABAMA
Cottage Hill 56, Robertsdale 41
The Warriors knocked off Robertsdale in the host team’s Pre-Thanksgiving Tournament semifinals. Clay Scofield led Cottage Hill with 23 points and 16 rebounds. He also had 3 steals.
Kaden Nguyen scored 15 points with 8 rebounds for the Warriors, who improved to 6-1 headed into the tournament finals against Fairhope at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Kaden Washam scored 11 points.
Kole Singler led Robertsdale with 10 points and 5 rebounds. The Golden Bears play Williamson for third place at 4:30 p.m.
Cottage Hill beat Hillcrest-Evergreen 64-46 on Friday in the tournament. Scofield scored 26 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Shadrick Toodle scored 11 points, had 7 assists and 5 steals with 8 rebounds. Washam scored 10 points with 6 steals. Caleb Metzner scored 10 points in the win.
Robertsdale 48, Alma Bryant 43
The Golden Bears led 12-6 after one quarter, 23-12 at the half and 37-26 headed into the final period in the win over Alma Bryant in the Robertsdale Pre-Thanksgiving Tournament.
Tanner Williams led Robertsdale with 12 points and 5 steals.
Raymond Wells scored 20 points for Alma Bryant. Daylen Workman added 13.
Williamson 58, Faith Academy 50
Mikel Bonner scored 18 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked 3 shots as the Lions beat Faith Academy in the Robertsdale Pre-Thanksgiving Tournament.
Corien Coleman scored 17 in the win and Johnathan Johnson notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Williamson (3-1).
STATEWIDE
Montgomery Academy 68, Chilton County 36
The Eagles won their home opener, jumping to a 34-16 halftime lead over Chilton County. Montgomery Academy outscored the visitors 18-5 in the fourth quarter.
Skyler Stovall led nine players who scored in the win with 20 points. He also had 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists. DJ Vinson grabbed 13 rebounds to go with 8 points, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Brewer Welch had 7 steals, 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 8 points.
Seth Edwards had 7 rebounds for Montgomery Academy (2-0) and Jarrett Friendly had 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
Montgomery Academy will meet Lanett at 1 p.m. on Monday in the opening round of the Coach Larry Chapman Foundation Tip Off Classic at home.
Prattville 60, Stanhope Elmore 54
The Lions won their first game after opening the season with three losses as junior Ty Bryant tossed in 21 points and made 5 steals on Friday.
Evan Chandler scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds for Prattville. Andre Woods had 7 rebounds and scored 8 in the win.
On Tuesday, JAG beat Prattville 63-56. Bryant led the Lions with 19 points.
GIRLS
HUNTSVILLE/TENNESSEE VALLEY
Sand Rock 58, Glencoe 27
The Wildcats improved to 3-0 with the win at Glencoe on Friday as Katelyn St.Clair scored 18 points, claimed 8 rebounds, had 6 steals and 4 assists.
Kennedy Henderson grabbed 13 rebounds and scored 8 points. Chloe Stephens scored 10 points with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Peyton Johnson finished with 10 rebounds and Zoey Handy had 7.
Sand Rock plays in a tournament at Geraldine beginning Monday.
Sparkman 78, James Clemens 47
Sophomore Khloe Bradley scored 18 points to help lift Sparkman to 4-1 on the season with the home win on Friday.
Abethany James scored 14 points for the Senators. Nicholls State signee Laryn Scott contributed 13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Jamya Griffin, also headed to Nicholls State, had 11 assists and 9 points.
Jazmin Grigsby led James Clemens with 13 points.
Sparkman travels to Atlanta on Friday to meet Maynard Jackson at Morrow High and will play Green Forest on Saturday.
MOBILE/COASTAL ALABAMA
Fairhope 65, Alma Bryant 55
Cooper Anderson scored 16 points and freshman Nylah Loukides registered a double-double for Fairhope in the win in the Battle at the Beach Thanksgiving Tournament at Gulf Shores. Loukides scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Ella Byrd had 15 points and 5 rebounds and Peyton Frazer scored 14 points for Fairhope (2-3).
Gulf Shores 63, Oneonta 18
The Dolphins improved to 3-1 on the year with the win at the Battle at the Beach Thanksgiving Tournament at Gulf Shores on Saturday.
Junior Keyona Royal led Gulf Shores with 19 points. Senior Maggie Meyers scored 16 points with three 3-pointers. All eight Dolphins scored in the win.

Prattville Christian 47, Pelham 41
Prattville Christian improved to 2-0 on the season with the road win on Friday. Jenna McClendon scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the win.
Kayden Carr scored 7 points with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Prattville Christian plays St. James on Monday in the Coach Larry Chapman Foundation Tip Off Classic at Montgomery Academy.
Brantley 47, Pike County 25
Alex Grimes tossed in 16 points and had 5 rebounds as the Bulldogs topped Pike County at the Luverne Lady Tigers Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday.
Coco Stamps scored 12 points with 5 rebounds and 5 steals in the win. Myia Mount grabbed 12 rebounds as Brantley improved to 2-0 on the year.
Georgiana 42, McKenzie 27
The Panthers got a pair of double-doubles in the win on Saturday at the Luverne Lady Tigers Thanksgiving Tournament. Nyeashia Thomas scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds with 5 blocks in the win for Georgiana (2-1). Lillie Boggan scored 15 points and claimed 14 rebounds.
Grace Bradley scored 10 points in the win.
Earlier, Class 7A Enterprise beat the 1A Panthers 56-25. Boggan scored 10 points in the loss.
Montgomery Academy 42, Chilton County 35
The Eagles evened their record at 1-1 with the home win on Friday. Olivia Smith scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the win.
Caroline Waller scored 10 points and Kaci Armistead had 7 assists for Montgomery Academy.

Hooper Academy 44, Lee-Scott Academy 42
The Colts edged Lee-Scott on Friday, with Kaylee Midkiff notching a double-double with 18 rebounds and 15 points. Ashbee Norman scored 10 points with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Victoria Hagemann had 7 rebounds and Grace Seale had 6.
The Colts beat Morgan Academy 52-26 on Monday. Hagemann scored 12 points and claimed 6 rebounds.
Henlee had 6 rebounds to go with 6 points and Norman had 6 steals and 6 assists.
Lakeside 54, Macon East 19
Chloe Helms scored 19 points to lead Lakeside to the win on Friday, evening the Chiefs’ record at 2-2.
Sophie Seaborn scored 13 points to go with 9 steals for Lakeside.
