Basketball roundup: Hot-shooting Baker rolls by UMS-Wright

Baker bombed 11 3-pointers on the way to a 65-36 win at UMS-Wright on Friday. Every player on the Baker roster scored in the rout. The Hornets improved to 8-2 on the season.

Baker led 14-7 after one period and 35-15 at the half. Ryan Majors scored 14 points in the win. Lovalle Nelson scored 13 for Baker.

Sims Druhan led UMS-Wright with 12 points.

Baker hosts Vigor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. UMS-Wright travels to Mobile Christian on Monday.

Spanish Fort won its fifth straight game on Friday, breaking away from a 20-all tie at the half at Daphne with a 26-11 third period.

Mountain Brook 59, Hartselle 31

The Spartans took a commanding 27-8 first-quarter lead on the way to the home win over Hartselle on Friday.

Carson Romero led Mountain Brook with 21 points – with five 3-point buckets, three in the first period. Ty Davis scored 10 points with 8 from the free-throw line. Matt Coulillion added 9 in the win.

Markus Tapscott led Hartselle with 15 points. The Tigers had six players with 2 points each.

Jasper 61, Hazel Green 54

The Vikings earned the win at home on Friday, with four players scoring in double figures.

Caden Steiner led Jasper with 14 points. Ethan Thorne and Clayton Thorne had 13 points apiece and Miller Moody added 11.

Pelham 75, Prattville 65

The Panthers outscored Prattville 18-11 in the fourth period to secure the win on the road on Thursday. Pelham broke a 16-all first-quarter tie by pouring in 27 points in the second while holding the Lions to 14. Prattville rallied with a 24-14 third quarter to trail 57-54 headed into the final period.

Junior Ty Bryant poured in 30 points in the loss, hitting 4-of-7 3-pointers. He also had 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Senior Jess Smyth scored 15 points and freshman Isaiah Bradley added 11 for Prattville.

HUNTSVILLE/TENNESSEE VALLEY

Decatur Heritage 57, Ider 36

The Eagles improved to 3-1 on the season with the home win over Ider on Friday. Decatur Heritage jumped to a 19-6 first-quarter lead and pushed the advantage to 29-13 at the half.

Nash Thomas led Decatur Heritage with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Hayden Page had 11 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Paxton Tarver had 9 points with 6 rebounds. Brady Wilson grabbed 12 rebounds and Jayden Cooper had 8.

Griffen Weldon led Ider with 16 points.

The Eagles travel to Skyline on Tuesday.

STATEWIDE

Georgiana 72, Greenville 49

The Panthers had four players in double figures as they improved to 2-0 on the year with the home win on Friday over Greenville.

Nasir Cheatham notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists with 8 rebounds. Kaveon Miles scored 14 points, Noah Nelson had 13 and Maques Payton added 10. Jaden Stallworth grabbed 11 rebounds in the win.

Montgomery Academy 56, Chilton County 55

The Eagles rallied to pick up the road win on Friday, trailing 10-0 to open the game at Chilton County. The Tigers finished with 21 points in the opening period, but Montgomery Academy battled back defensively and held the home team to just 6 points in the third.

Skyler Stovall led the Eagles (7-1) with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals. DJ Vinson had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. He also had 3 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Cole Caddell had 12 points and 7 rebounds. Brewer Welch had 6 assists, 8 points and 4 steals. Seth Edwards had 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists and Jarrett Friendly grabbed 8 rebounds.

Montgomery Academy hosts Tallassee on Monday.

Hale County 51, Central-Tuscaloosa 50

TD Hutch led Hale County in the road win with 12 points. Demerius Lewis added 10 points for the Wildcats.

King Larkin had a double-double for the Falcons with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Colvin scored 8 points and had 6 rebounds for Central.

Prattville Christian 75, Trinity 70

Cade Segars poured in 33 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in Prattville Christian’s home win on Friday. Brady Robinson and PJ Evans had double-doubles for the Panthers. Robinson had 14 points and 14 rebounds while Evans had 11 points and 11 assists with 7 rebounds.

Prattville Christian (3-5) will host St. James on Tuesday.

Dothan 62, Prattville 39

The Wolves jumped to a 16-6 first-quarter lead and a 27-14 halftime advantage in earning the win at Prattville on Friday.

Xavier Dunn led the Lions with 13 points, hitting 2-of-3 shots from behind the 3-point arc. He also led Prattville with 9 rebounds.

GIRLS

BIRMINGHAM

Hoover 63, Spain Park 16

The Bucs rolled over crosstown rival Spain Park with a suffocating defensive effort. Hoover led 23-7 after one quarter and 43-11 at the half. The Bucs held the Jaguars to 3 points in the third quarter and 2 in the fourth.

Sophomore Aaliyah Blanchard led Hoover with 13 points. Fellow sophomore Khloe Ford had 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Hoover hosts Woodward Academy of College Park, Ga., on Saturday. Spain Park hosts Mountain Brook on Thursday.

HUNTSVILLE/TENNESSEE VALLEY

Lee-Huntsville 53, Buckhorn 33

Double-double machine Lamiya Batimba scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds – her ninth straight game with a double-double for the Generals.

Lee (6-4) raced to an 18-7 first-quarter lead and was up 29-12 at the half on the way to the road win Friday.

Kelis Silas scored 12 points for the Generals and London Harris had 10 points, 6 assists and 4 steals.

Kayla Childress scored 12 points to lead Buckhorn.

Priceville 58, Brewer 31

Abby Langlois led Priceville with 17 points and 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks in the road win on Friday.

Ashlyn Johnson scored 13 points with 7 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Gracin Prater had 5 rebounds and 4 steals.

Chloe Romine, Lilly Yancey and Keylyn Stapler scored 7 points each for Brewer.

STATEWIDE

Prattville Christian 49, Trinity 38

The Panthers improved to 7-0 on the year with the home win over Trinity on Friday.

Kayden Carr led Prattville Christian with 15 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds. Jenna McClendon scored 15 points and had 8 rebounds.

PCA will host St. James on Tuesday.

Greenville 45, Georgiana 41

Georgiana dropped to 3-2 on the season with the home loss on Friday.

Lillie Boggan and Nyeashia Thomas both had double-doubles for Georgiana. Boggan scored 17 points and had 12 rebounds with 5 assists. Thomas hauled down 21 rebounds and scored 11 points.

MOBILE/COASTAL ALABAMA

Fairhope 46, Robertsdale 27

The Pirates picked up the win at Robertsdale on Friday as Libby Rogers scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.

Peyton Frazer had 9 points with 7 rebounds and Nylah Loukides had 7 rebounds to go with her 8 points.

Fairhope (4-5) hosts Faith Academy on Tuesday.
