‘Barbenheimer’: Which movie is Alabama most excited to see?
Even the least internet savvy among us have probably heard about the latest debate going around: “Barbie” vs. “Oppenheimer”.
Both movies, affectionally meshed together as “Barbenheimer,” first prompted lots of online jokes when it was announced that the insanely pink colored movie directed by Greta Gerwig and the devoid of pink movie directed by Christopher Nolan would release in theatres on the same day.
Then, as many internet things do, it turned into wall to wall coverage, with many people stating their intention to book tickets to both.
But which movie are Alabamians planning to see first or at all?
Digital Third Coast, a website dedicated to search marketing, analyzed 108 Google search terms relating to both the “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” movies. Then, they looked at the average state search volume per capita over the past 3 months.
The movie Alabamians, along with a sizeable part of the South, are eager to see is the delightfully pink and glittery, “Barbie”.
However, “Barbie” barely won the movie battle, according to the website’s study. Twenty seven states were excited to watch “Barbie”, compared to 23 excited to see “Oppenheimer”.
Tennessee was the only Southern state that was more interested in seeing “Oppenheimer” instead of “Barbie.”
