Bank of America may open first Birmingham branch in 7 city expansion
Birmingham could soon be home to a Bank of America location.
American Banker is reporting that the financial services institution has identified the Magic City as one of seven new U.S. markets.
Aaron Levine, the company’s president of preferred banking, mentioned Birmingham along with New Orleans, Milwaukee, Madison, Wisc., and Boise, Idaho, at an industry conference Monday, according to the publication.
He did not name the other two cities, and Bank of America would not comment.
Bank of America is the nation’s second-largest bank by assets. It does not have an Alabama branch, but has more than 75 branches in Georgia, the closest being in Columbus, according to its website.
It currently operates in 83 of the top 100 markets, and plans to increase that number to 90 by the end of 2025, according to the report.
Bank of America is headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., with investment banking and auxiliary headquarters in New York City.
