Baldwin County man killed in wreck between SUV, tractor-trailer on I-65
A Baldwin County man was killed Monday morning when the SUV he was driving collided with a disabled tractor-trailer on I-65, authorities said.
Chase J. Sharp, 34, of Bay Minette, was driving a 2015 Ford Explorer when the SUV struck the rear of a 2000 Kenworth tractor-trailer around 6:02 a.m. Monday near the 29-mile marker of I-65, about five miles south of Bay Minette, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Anna Peoples.
Sharp, who was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tractor-trailer was disabled and partially in the roadway at the time of the wreck, Peoples said.
Authorities did not say whether the tractor-trailer driver suffered any injuries.
Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued to investigate the wreck.
