Baldwin County man arrested at Pelham motel tried to have sex with child: Police
A Baldwin County man was arrested at a motel in Pelham, where he was visiting with the intent to have sex with a child, police said Friday.
Pelham police received information from Hoover police Thursday that a person visiting Pelham was “attempting to procure a minor child for sexual activity,” the department said.
Pelham detectives and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations began conducting interviews and surveillance.
Within eight hours after Pelham police received the tip, a suspect, identified as 46-year-old Bay Minette resident William Guy Long, was arrested at an unnamed Pelham motel.
“No specific child was ever in imminent danger,” police said.
Long is being held in the Shelby County Jail without bond on charges of first-degree human trafficking and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act, police said.
