Local home development juggernaut 68 Ventures announced Wednesday that it had sold Truland Homes, one of its home development companies, to D.R. Horton, the largest home builder in the country.

“In conjunction with growing Truland Homes over the last decade plus, D.R. Horton has afforded us the honor and privilege of becoming the largest lot supplier within their Gulf Coast region,” Nathan Cox, founder and CEO of 68 Ventures, said in a news release. “They have always treated us like their own while developing over 7,000 lots for them.”

D.R. Horton will combine Truland’s operations with the current D.R. Horton development operations in Baldwin County and Northwest Florida, according to the release. D.R. Horton is expected to pay approximately $100 million in cash for the sale, which was finalized on June 30, according to a report from BusinessWire.

In exchange, D.R. Horton acquired approximately 263 lots, 155 homes in inventory and 55 homes in sales order backlog in Truland Homes’ assets, the BusinessWire report says. The company also acquired through the sale 156 lots and control of around 400 lots from other companies affiliated with Truland, as well as 201 lots and control of around 260 lots from third parties.

According to the Truland Homes website, the company has 12 communities in Alabama and seven in Florida. That number does not include future developments that the company may have in the works.
