Baked snacks sold throughout US recalled due to undeclared allergens
Chicago-based food company ZB Importing LLC has issued a voluntary recall for six varieties of Ülker snack rolls, biscuits and wafers due to undeclared wheat, eggs and milk in the package’s product labels.
People who have allergies or severe sensitivities to wheat, egg, or milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume these products.
According to a Feb. 18 announcement from ZB Importing LLC on the FDA website, the label mistake was discovered following receipt of a single consumer complaint involving an allergic reaction. The issue originated from a supplier who inadvertently failed to fully disclose all allergens while translating the ingredient list to another language.
“We are actively working with the supplier to implement stricter labeling controls, including an additional verification process for multilingual labels,” the company said in a statement.
The Ülker snacks products were distributed through retail stores in Canada and more than 30 states, including Alabama, Georgia, and Flordia (the full list of states who received the product is available on the FDA website).

Consumers who have purchased the recalled Ulker Brand products are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
