Baby mega-store in Alabama closing
Maybe it should have been named Bye Bye Baby?
Baby mega-store Buy Buy Baby, part of the bankrupt Bed Bath & Beyond chain, is shutting down.
“Thank you to all our loyal customers,” a note on the Buy Buy Baby website said. “We have made the difficult decision to begin winding down out operations. Bed Bath & Beyond and Buy Buy Baby stores remain open to serve you.”
According to the company, 120 Buy Buy Baby stores and 360 Bed Bath & Beyond stores are closing. Among the stores slated for shutdown includes the one Buy Buy Baby location in Alabama in Patton Creek shopping center at 4351 Creekside Ave.
The retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April, listing estimated assets and liabilities in the range of $1 billion and $10 billion. Liquidation sales are underway at stores but an exact closing date has not been announced.
According to Buy Buy Baby’s website, stores are no longer accepting gift cards, merchandise credits or shopping rewards. Customers can expect discounts of up to 50%, the website said.
