Baby formula recall: Gerber recalls some infant formula over possible contamination
Several units of Gerber infant formula are being recalled over concerns they could be contaminated with bacteria.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said the Perrigo Company was voluntarily recalling certain Gerber Good Start SoothePro Powdered Infant Formula produced in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The recall is being made “out of an abundance of caution” due to the “potential presence of Cronobacter sakazakii,” the FDA said.
The products were manufactured from Jan. 2-Jan. 18, 2023. No adverse events have been reported in connection to the products, the FDA said.
The products were sold at recallers across the U.S. People who purchased the formula after March 3 should look for the following lot codes and “use by” dates found on the bottom of the package.

Cronobacter sakazakii is a bacteria commonly found in the environment. In most people it causes no symptoms but in some, particularly premature infants, infants under 2 months of age or infants with weakened immune systems, it can cause fever, poor feeding, excessive crying or low energy.
