Autopsy reveals Montgomery man found dead was shot; homicide investigation launched

Montgomery police officers are conducting a homicide investigation after a gunshot wound was discovered during an autopsy on a body found earlier in the week.

According to MPD, officers and fire medics responded to the 4000 block of Oconee Drive in reference to a deceased subject Wednesday, March 20 at about 6:28 p.m.

The subject has since been identified as James Walker, 68, of Montgomery.

Police determined that Walker had sustained fatal injuries, and he was pronounced dead. He was then transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy, which revealed a fatal gunshot wound.
