Authorities: North Alabama man choked victim, fired shots during armed robbery
Limestone County authorities say a man is facing multiple charges in connection with a robbery Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin said the incident happened in the 15000 block of Cannon Road in Elkmont at about 1:50 p.m.
According to authorities, a victim was unloading groceries and was approached by a man pointing a gun.
The man forced the victim into the home and began to choke them while pointing a pistol at them. The offender fired several rounds in the house before taking the victim’s keys. He then broke into the victim’s car, taking money.
McLaughlin said the victim ran to a neighbor’s home, but the man gave chase, firing more rounds before fleeing after witnesses appeared.
Investigators later located the suspect vehicle on Lydia Corey Road. A man, Tervarius Eugene Horton, 35, fled from the scene but was taken into custody after a short pursuit.
Horton has been charged with first degree robbery and auto burglary. He is being held in the Limestone County Detention Facility without bond.
“I continue to be proud of our Deputies and Investigators for the work that they are doing. Because of their actions, we could quickly locate and arrest the alleged offender in this extremely violent crime,” McLaughlin said.
