Authorities identify man killed in rush-hour crash on I-65 in Hoover

Authorities have released the name of a man killed in a rush-hour crash on I-65 in Hoover.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as Roderick D. Henderson. He was 39 and lived in Jemison.

Hoover police and fire medics responded at 7:07 a.m. Wednesday to Interstate 65 northbound on a report of a single-vehicle accident, said Hoover police Capt. Keith Czeskleba. That location is one mile north of the Interstate 459 junction.

Witnesses told officers that a BMW 420i struck the center concrete median, left the road, and hit a tree.

Henderson was taken by Hoover Fire and Rescue to Brookwood Baptist Medical Center.

The crash happened at 6:56 a.m., and Henderson was pronounced dead at 7:44 a.m.

Hoover Police traffic officers are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
