Authorities have released the name of a 73-year-old man was fatally struck while he was crossing a Fairfield road Tuesday night.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Thursday identified the victim as Carl Edward Taylor. He lived in Birmingham.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the crash happened at 9 p.m. in the 6600 block of Aaron Aronov Drive.

Taylor was crossing the road when he was hit by an oncoming motorist. The driver stopped at the scene and called 911.

The investigation is ongoing by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
