A man found shot to death in Fairfield over the weekend has now been identified.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the victim as Ladarius Cortez Jones. He was 31 and lived in Fairfield.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were called at 11:53 p.m. Saturday to a report of a person down, said Deputy Chief David Agee.

Deputies arrived to find onlookers trying to help Jones. They told authorities they saw a vehicle quickly leaving the area and then found the victim wounded.

Medics attempted life-saving treatment, but the victim was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:01 a.m.

No arrests have been announced.
