Audrey Hale had ‘emotional disorder,’ legally bought 7 guns before Nashville school shooting
Audrey Hale, the person who killed three children and three adults at a Christian school in Nashville, legally bought seven firearms in recent years and hid the guns from their parents before the attack, police said Tuesday.
Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake told reporters Tuesday that Hale was under care for an “emotional disorder,” adding, “law enforcement knew nothing about the treatment” the 28-year-old was getting.
Hale’s parents “felt that (Hale) should not own weapons” and were under the impression Hale had sold one weapon and “did not own any more,” Drake said.
Hale was a former student at the school, but police said the shooter did not target specific victims.
Police have released videos of the shooting, including edited surveillance footage that shows the shooter’s car driving up to the school, glass doors being shot out and the shooter ducking through one of them.
Additional video, from Officer Rex Engelbert’s bodycam, shows police searching the school before shooting and killing Hale.
Police sad there is no evidence specific individuals were targeted in shooting. No motive has been determined at this time.
The victims were children Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney, all age 9. The adults were Cynthia Peak, 61, Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill, 61.
