Auburn’s Maddie Penta signs with Athlete’s Unlimited Pro Softball

The softball world hasn’t seen the last of Auburn’s Maddie Penta, who recently finished up her four-year, storied career on The Plains.

After signing with Athlete’s Unlimited Pro Softball for its AUX season in June, Penta is now set to take her game to the professional ranks. Athlete’s Unlimited announced the signing of Penta in a press release Friday afternoon.

Penta, who saw her college career come to a close in a loss to Florida State in the Tallahassee Regional earlier this month, leaves Auburn after having etched her name all over the program’s record books.

In addition to being the program’s all-time winningest pitcher with 76 wins across four seasons, Penta also became the first Auburn pitcher to log 250 strikeouts in three consecutive seasons — a mark she reached in a legendary, 12-inning performance against UCF in the NCAA Regionals.

Penta capped off her college career having been named an NFCA all-American for the second consecutive season, making her the only pitcher in Auburn softball history to earn multiple NFCA all-American honors.

In signing with Athlete’s Unlimited, Penta will compete at AUX in Wichita, Kansas from June 10 to June 25. AUX softball features 42 athletes playing in 18 games across a condensed season ahead of Athlete’s Unlimited Pro Softball’s championship season, which gets underway in July.
