Auburn’s Allen Flanigan on Houston coach Kelvin Sampson: ‘I don’t even know who that is’
Auburn’s Allen Flanigan answered honestly.
The Tigers, including Flanigan, met with the media after Friday’s practice in preparation for Saturday’s game against No. 1 seed Houston in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

He was asked about Cougars coach Kelvin Sampson.
“I don’t even know who that is,” he replied.
Flanigan, who scored 10 points in an opening-round 83-75 win against Iowa on Thursday, was one of six Auburn players to score in double digits.

Sampson, of course, has led his Cougars to a tournament No. 1 seed and a 32-3 record this year. He led the Cougars to the 2021 Final Four.
During his Oklahoma tenure, he guided the Sooners to 10 consecutive 20-win seasons, the 1999 Sweet 16, the 2002 Final Four and an Elite Eight appearance in 2003. From 1994 to 2006, he guided the Sooners to NCAA Tournament appearances in 11 of 12 years.
With all that said, Flanigan and the Tigers have other interests. Specifically, the status of Houston’s Marcus Sasser’s ailing groin.
The All-American guard pulled himself out of a victory over 16th-seeded Northern Kentucky, and his status was unknown for a second-round game Saturday against Auburn.
There was no immediate update on Sasser’s condition Friday before the Cougars held their scheduled media availability.
