Auburn wins the commitment of 4-star safety, top-10 in-state prospect out of Thompson
Anquon Fegans, a four-star safety out of Thompson High School in Alabaster, has committed to Auburn.
Fegans pledged to Auburn over Clemson, Georgia and LSU during a commitment celebration in Birmingham on Monday evening, giving Hugh Freeze and the Tigers their second commitment of the day and seventh in three days.
In Fegans, the Tigers are getting a top-10 talent, according to 247Sports, which ranks Fegans as the No. 9 safety in the nation and the ninth-ranked class of 2025 prospect in the state of Alabama.
Fegans first earned an offer from Auburn shortly after Freeze took the reins of the program.
But the Tigers’ pursuit of Fegans really picked up after Auburn brought on Charles Kelly, who previously recruited Fegans’ older brother, Tre’Quon Fegans, to Alabama.
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, Anquon Fegans has helped Thompson to a trio of 7A state titles.
In 2021, his freshman season, Anquon Fegans tallied 50 tackles, two tackles for a loss and a pair of interceptions. Come his sophomore campaign in 2022, he logged 67 tackles and nine interceptions — three of which were returned for touchdowns.
Entering his senior year at Thompson, Anquon Fegans is coming off a 2023 season that saw him record 59 total tackles, seven interceptions and a pick six.
With Monday’s commitment of Anquon Fegans, Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class grows to 21 commits and jumps to No. 5 in the nation.
