3 TD passes for QB Payton Thorne in Auburn’s 27-13 victory over Mississippi State last week. Thorne became the first Auburn player with more than two TD passes in an SEC game since Bo Nix had three in a 48-11 victory over LSU on Oct. 31, 2020. Nix also had been the most recent Auburn player with at least three TD passes in any game with three in a 60-10 victory over Akron on Sept. 4, 2021. Thorne completed 20-of-26 passes for 230 yards with no interceptions against Mississippi State. Auburn has its most passing yards in an SEC game since the Tigers threw for 285 yards in a 41-27 loss to Arkansas on Oct. 29, 2022. In Auburn’s seven conference games between Arkansas last season and MSU this season, the Tigers totaled 632 passing yards, with a high of 154.

5 Auburn players have at least 150 rushing yards this season. The Tigers are the only SEC team with that many. RB Jarquez Hunter leads Auburn with 453 yards and five TDs on 89 rushing attempts. Auburn QB Payton Thorne has 297 rushing yards, QB Robby Ashford has 188, RB Brian Battle has 182 and RB Jeremiah Cobb has 150. Vanderbilt has two players with at least 150 rushing yards this season – RB Patrick Smith with 277 and RB Sedrick Alexander with 251.

6 Years since Auburn won on an SEC East team’s home field. Since a 51-14 victory at Missouri on Sept. 23, 2017, the Tigers have lost at Georgia in 2018, Florida in 2019, Georgia and South Carolina in 2020, South Carolina in 2021 and Georgia in 2022. Auburn has a 47-35-1 overall record against the SEC East since the league divided into divisions in 1992. The SEC is eliminating the division format after the 2023 season.

7 Consecutive games have included 33 or more points for Vanderbilt’s opponent. Only one other time in SEC history has a conference member yielded at least 33 points in more than six consecutive games. In 2012, Tennessee lost to Georgia 51-44, Mississippi State 41-13, Alabama 44-13 and South Carolina 38-35, defeated Troy 55-48 and lost to Missouri 51-48 and Vanderbilt 41-18 for a seven-game streak. Vanderbilt has lost to Wake Forest 36-20, UNLV 40-37, Kentucky 45-28, Missouri 38-21, Florida 38-14, Georgia 37-20 and Ole Miss 33-7 in its past seven games.

8 TD receptions for Vanderbilt WR Will Sheppard this season. Sheppard had nine TD receptions in the 2022 campaign. No Vanderbilt player has had nine or more TD receptions in more than one season. Sheppard is among seven Vanderbilt players who have had at least nine TD receptions in a single season.

9 Consecutive losses against SEC West opponents for Vanderbilt. The Commodores’ most recent victory over an SEC West team came 31-6 over Ole Miss on Oct. 5, 2019. Vanderbilt has a 15-69 record against the SEC West.

10 Players have been passed by Auburn RB Jarquez Hunter on the school’s all-time rushing list in the past two games. Hunter ran for 91 yards and two TDs on 15 carries in a 28-21 loss to Ole Miss on Oct. 21 and 144 yards on 17 carries in a 27-23 victory over Mississippi State last week to lift his career totals to 1,714 yards and 15 TDs on 282 carries. Hunter ranks 25th in Auburn history in rushing yards after passing Curtis Kuykendall, Joe Childress, Brad Lester, Jimmy Sidle, Tommy Lorino, Kamryn Pettway, Terry Henley, JaTarvious Whitlow, Kam Martin and Rudi Johnson.

14 Takeaways for Auburn this season, the most in the SEC. Vanderbilt is tied for second in the league with 13 takeaways. The Tigers have recovered four of their opponents’ fumbles and intercepted 10 passes. The Commodores have recovered three of their opponents’ fumbles and intercepted 10 passes. Auburn has come up with at least one takeaway in 17 consecutive games, the Tigers’ longest streak in 15 years. Auburn has lost four fumbles and thrown six interceptions, and Vanderbilt has lost five fumbles and thrown 11 interceptions in 2023. The Commodores’ 16 turnovers are six more than any other team in the SEC.

14 Consecutive field-goal attempts have been made by Auburn K Alex McPherson since he missed the first one of his career.

21 Victories for Auburn, 21 victories for Vanderbilt and one tie in the Tigers-Commodores series. Auburn leads the series 15-9 in SEC games even though the Tigers started the conference portion of the series with six consecutive losses. The programs most recently played on Nov. 5, 2016, when Auburn took a 23-16 victory. Vanderbilt leads the series 12-7 in Nashville, with victories in both the most recent meetings there in 2008 and 2012.

64 More points for Vanderbilt’s opponents than for the Commodores in the second quarter this season. In the other three periods, Vanderbilt has been outscored by 15 points. The Commodores have been outscored 109-45 in the second quarter and 199-184 in the rest of the game in 2023. Auburn has outscored its opponents 72-20 in the second quarter while being outscored 160-142 in the rest of the game this season.

137 Games have been played by Auburn since it was most recently shut out, the second-longest streak in school history. Auburn’s most recent shutout loss came 49-0 to Alabama on Nov. 17, 2012. Auburn’s record scoring streak lasted 149 games, starting with a 55-16 victory over Richmond on Oct. 4, 1980, and ending with a 17-0 loss to Alabama on Nov. 26, 1992. Auburn’s current scoring streak is the 10th-longest in SEC history, and its record streak is the ninth-longest.

266 Receiving yards for Auburn WR Jay Fair to lead Auburn this season. Every other team in the SEC has at least one player with at least 395 receiving yards. Fair has 25 receptions and has caught two TD passes in 2023.

12,090 Career punting yards for Vanderbilt P Matthew Hayball. He’s the only player in any of the NCAA’s four divisions of football with at least 12,000 punting yards currently. Hayball’s average of 49.43 yards on 35 punts this season ranks second in the nation to the 49.68 on 34 punts by Boise State’s James Ferguson-Reynolds.
