Auburn volleyball unveils schedule for 2023
Head coach Brent Crouch and the Auburn volleyball team unveiled their 2023 regular season schedule, which features 15 home matches in Neville Arena on Wednesday afternoon.
After the team’s Orange and Blue scrimmage on Aug. 18, the Tigers travel to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech for one final opportunity to knock the rust off in an exhibition match.
Auburn’s regular season opens the weekend of Aug. 25, when it hosts Coppin State, McNeese State and Jacksonville State in the War Eagle Invitational. The next weekend, the Tigers head to Tallahassee to participate in Florida State’s Seminole Invitational, where they’ll see SMU and the hosting ‘Noles.
Following the trip to Florida, Auburn will stay in the state of Alabama for its own Tiger Invitational, which features Middle Tennessee, Charleston Southern and Mercer. Auburn hosts the trio of teams Sept. 7 through Sept. 9. The following weekend, Auburn travels to South Alabama as a participant in the Alabama Showdown, which also features Samford.
The Tigers’ trip to Mobile is the final opportunity Auburn will have to face out-of-conference competition.
Auburn opens SEC play on Sept. 22 in a home match against the Florida Gators and host the Ole Miss Rebels two days later before traveling to Arkansas on Sept. 27 and coming back home on Oct. 1 for a match against Georgia.
After the match against the Bulldogs, the Tigers spend some time on the road, traveling to Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee in a span from Oct. 6 to Oct. 13.
Crouch and the Tigers return to Neville Arena for matches against Missouri and South Carolina on Oct. 20 and Oct. 22, before embarking on another streak of three road games against Georgia, Alabama and Texas A&M.
When Auburn returns home, it will welcome Kentucky in a midweek tilt on Nov. 8 before packing it up and heading to Missouri and Mississippi State on Nov. 12 and Nov. 15.
The Tigers close the regular season with three straight conference games against LSU (Nov. 19), Alabama (Nov. 22) and Arkansas and Nov. 24).
After closing the regular season, Auburn hopes to find itself in a position to return to its second-consecutive NCAA tournament. The Tigers made a second-round exit in last year’s tournament after losing to Houston and ending Auburn’s season with a 22-9 (10-8 SEC) record.
