Auburn to host 2024 SEC softball tournament

Just hours before Auburn was set to open play in the SEC Tournament in Fayetteville, Ark., the Tigers’ attention briefly turned toward next year’s postseason.

That’s because Auburn will host the 2024 SEC Tournament at Jane B. Moore Field, the SEC announced Thursday morning. The five-day tournament is set to take place from May 7-11 on the Plains. It will be the second time Auburn has hosted the conference tournament and the first since 2007.

Auburn failed to make the SEC Tournament the last time it hosted — when the field was just the top-eight teams in the conference, with the single-elimination tournament played over three days — but the Tigers hope that won’t be the case next season.

While next season will mark the second time Auburn has hosted the SEC Tournament, Jane B. Moore Field is no stranger to postseason play. Opened in 1999 and renamed Jane B. Moore Field in 2002, the facility has hosted four NCAA Regionals (2005, 2015-17) and three NCAA Super Regionals (2015-17) over the years.

Prior to the 2021 season, the facility underwent an upgrade and opened the Gregg E. Heim Player Development Center, an 11,000 square-foot facility that features six batting tunnels, a netting system, team meeting space, LED lighting, pitching machines and a full turn infield with a clay pitching circle.

Ticket information and additional information for the 2024 SEC Tournament will be released at a later date. In the meantime, third-seeded Auburn is set to open play in this year’s SEC Tournament on Thursday against 11th-seeded Ole Miss, with first pitch set for approximately 35 minutes after the completion of eighth-seeded Florida vs. ninth-seeded Kentucky. The Gators and Wildcats will begin their matchup at 10 a.m.
