Auburn safety Caleb Wooden announces plans to enter transfer portal
Auburn football received arguably its biggest transfer news of the young offseason so far on Friday, as junior safety Caleb Wooden announced his plans to enter the transfer portal.
Wooden spent three seasons at Auburn and started six games in 2024, making 17 tackles and intercepting a pass in the Iron Bowl. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Wooden began the season as a starter, but began to see fewer snaps in the second half of the season as freshman safety Kaleb Harris started to emerge.
With Wooden’s departure, Auburn currently has six safeties returning after the departures of Wooden and senior Jerrin Thompson. The Tigers also added two safeties on signing day in blue-chip freshmen Anquon Fegans and Eric Winters.
