Auburn reserve linebacker plans to enter transfer portal

Auburn is losing a veteran linebacker to the transfer portal.

Reserve linebacker Kam Brown, a fifth-year junior, announced Wednesday morning that he plans to enter the transfer portal at the end of the spring semester as a graduate transfer. Brown will have two years of eligibility remaining.

A 6-foot, 244-pounder who signed with Auburn as part of its 2019 recruiting class, Brown has appeared in just two games during his career on the Plains. He redshirted as a true freshman in 2019 and saw limited action over the last three seasons. He made his first career appearance in 2020 against Arkansas and only saw the field one other time while not recording a stat in an Auburn uniform.

The younger brother of former Auburn All-America defensive tackle Derrick Brown, Kam Brown got to spend the 2019 season on the same team as his big brother as the Tigers went 9-4 and finished ranked 14th in the postseason AP poll. Thought he got to spend a season alongside his brother, Kam Brown was never able to crack the rotation at linebacker during his time on the Plains. This spring, he was working behind returning contributors Wesley Steiner, Cam Riley and Robert Woodyard, as well as transfer additions Austin Keys and Demario Tolan.
