Auburn QB Jackson Arnold not participating in A-Day spring practice
Auburn football fans will have to wait a little longer to see the Tigers’ new transfer quarterback in action.
Jackson Arnold did not dress for Saturday’s A-Day open practice, after suffering what appeared to be a minor leg injury during Thursday’s practice.
The reason for him being held out appears to be precautionary, along with a number of Auburn players who have been held out with injuries during spring practice.
Arnold not practicing means Auburn has just one scholarship quarterback available for Saturday’s open practice, that being true freshman signal caller Deuce Knight. Walk-on quarterback John Colvin will also take reps along with Knight.
It makes Saturday a chance for Knight to take significant first team reps, a positive experience for a young player who has already earned a lot of praise from his teammates and coaches.
“Deuce’s maturity is way farther along than what I even knew, and he is hungry to learn and is always asking questions,” head coach Hugh Freeze said at the beginning of the spring. “Always wanting to talk about how I improve this and that. He is an extremely hard worker that you have to run off the field from trying to throw too much.”
