Auburn police investigate after woman thrown to ground in brutal fight captured on video
Auburn police are investigating a weekend fight in the parking lot of an apartment complex that was captured on video and widely circulated on social media.
The video shows two males fighting on the ground. One of them is on top of the other, repeatedly punching him in the head area.
A female is standing close by and then tries to intervene, at which point the male who appears to be the main aggressor picks her up and flips her to the ground.
Both victims appeared in the video to be unconscious.
Police on Monday said they responded in Sunday’s early-morning hours to the apartment complex in the 700 block of West Magnolia Avenue on a report of an assault.
“Responding officers located two victims who sustained non-life-threatening injuries,’’ according to the department’s news release.
“Both victims were transported to area hospitals where they were treated for their injuries and released.”
Police said they have identified all three people in the video.
“The circumstances surrounding the altercation indicate that this is an isolated incident, and that all parties involved were acquainted prior to the incident,’’ the release said.
The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are pending.
