I’ve traveled to Auburn a few times, twice for football including the Super Six and then my first and last Iron Bowl on the Plains, the Kick Six .
There was a wedding, and then a friendly flag football game between the staffs of The Crimson White and The Auburn Plainsman in the cold dead of night circa the mid-2000s.
So I haven’t had much time to poke around the Auburn University campus and downtown proper, until I took a trip across Highway 280 for an upcoming story and a chance to see “The Loveliest Village.”
On a gorgeous (but hot) November Thursday with the autumn leaves in full bloom under the bluest of skies, I saw the Samford Hall clocktower, the exterior of Jordan-Hare Stadium, the still-brand new Toomer’s Oaks, all the statues from legendary coaches to Heisman-winners to a Major League Baseball Hall of Famer — and I even caught Aubie on the prowl.
And I brought my camera, so take a look at some sights from what the Auburn campus looks like now in the photos below.
