Auburn OL takes advantage of JUCO ruling, reportedly enters transfer portal

Veteran offensive lineman Percy Lewis became the second Auburn football player to enter the transfer portal following the new JUCO eligibility ruling, according to multiple reports.

Lewis started his career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, playing the 2020 and 2021 seasons there before transferring to Mississippi State. He spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons in Starkville before playing one year at Auburn.

During the 2024 season, Lewis was a major contributor for Auburn early on, starting five games at left tackle and played 308 total snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. However, he lost his starting spot permanently after playing just three snaps against Missouri.

Lewis’ departure isn’t one Auburn wasn’t already planning for, though, as he would have been out of eligibility before the NCAA’s recent ruling that granted seniors who are former JUCO players an extra year of eligibility.

The Tigers already added tackles Xavier Chaplin and Mason Murphy through the transfer portal and return contributors at tackle such as Dillon Wade and Tyler Johnson and could now return starting right tackle Izavion Miller.
