Auburn makes top-4 for Rice transfer guard Quincy Olivari
Rice transfer guard Quincy Olivari is narrowing down his recruitment after entering the transfer portal nearly three weeks ago.
Olivari announced his top-four schools Monday night on his Instagram account, and Auburn made the cut. Bruce Pearl’s program joined Miami, Xavier and Texas as the schools still in contention for the 6-foot-3 veteran guard.

Olivari entered the transfer portal March 23 after spending the last four seasons at Rice. He received a visit from Pearl in Houston during the week of the Final Four, as the Auburn coach works to rebuild the Tigers’ roster for the 2023-24 season. Olivari averaged 18.7 points per game and shot 36.4 percent from 3-point range while leading Rice in scoring last season while earning second-team All-Conference USA honors.
A score-first guard, Olivari has appeared in 113 games over the last four seasons with the Owls while making 72 starts, including all 35 games this past season. Along with his 18.7 points per game, which ranked 51st among all Division-I players, Olivari averaged 5.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and one steal per game. He shot 41.3 percent overall and 79.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Olivari, a native of Atlanta who attended the same high school as former Auburn star Chuma Okeke (Westlake High), has one year of eligibility remaining. Auburn currently has four available scholarships for the 2023-24 season following Sunday’s signing of former FIU guard Denver Jones, another high-scoring All-Conference USA transfer.
