Auburn great Jason Campbell assumes mantle as Tigers’ new radio analyst
A new, albeit familiar voice will be taking over as Auburn football’s radio analyst beginning this season.
Auburn great Jason Campbell was named the program’s new radio analyst on Monday, replacing fellow former Tigers quarterback Stan White, who served in that role for 22 seasons from 2001-22 before announcing his retirement from the radio booth back in November. Campbell will join play-by-play broadcaster and Voice of the Tigers Andy Burcham in the booth on gamedays.

Campbell’s move to the booth comes after the former quarterback spent the last seven seasons serving as the program’s pregame and halftime show analyst on the Auburn Sports Network. He has also worked several A-Day spring games as a radio analyst alongside Burcham and former Voice of the Tigers Rod Bramblett.
“I would like to thank God for this amazing opportunity to continue doing something I enjoy and love,” Campbell said in a release. “I appreciate the Auburn Sports Network team and Stan for their immediate confidence in me as I move into the analyst role. I know I have incredibly big shoes to fill. It has been a privilege watching and learning from Stan during our time in the booth together. Auburn Family, I look forward to sharing great memories with you alongside the Voice of the Tigers, Andy Burcham, this fall.”
Campbell becomes the program’s third football radio analyst of the last 43 years. All three were former Auburn quarterbacks, as he joins White and Charlie Trotman (1980-2000) in that role. Campbell’s first assignment in the booth will be Auburn’s A-Day spring game on April 8 inside Jordan-Hare Stadium.
“Stan has given the last 22 years of his life, in part, to Auburn football and the Auburn Sports Network,” Burcham said in a statement. “He has become one of the top analysts, not only in the SEC, but in the country. I thank Stan for his outstanding work and his friendship. He will be missed with our crew and the Auburn Family. We are excited about the next chapter in Jason Campbell’s radio career. He was the overwhelming choice to replace Stan in the booth.
“He continues the tradition of outstanding quarterbacks who have moved into the booth, including Pat Sullivan, Charlie Trotman and Stan White. I look forward to working alongside Jason starting with the A-Day game.”
A native of Taylorsville, Miss., Campbell starred at Auburn from 2001-04, making 40 career starts at quarterback for the Tigers. He’s second to only White in career starts at the position (45), and he is the school’s winningest quarterback all-time (31). Campbell led Auburn to an undefeated season as a senior in 2004, when he was also named SEC Player of the Year, before becoming a first-round pick by Washington in the 2005 NFL Draft.
For his career on the Plains, Campbell completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 7,299 yards and 45 touchdowns, with nine more touchdowns accounted for on the ground. He’s second in program history in passing yards, behind White, yards per pass attempt (8.5, second to Cam Newton’s 10.2), completion percentage (also behind Newton) and touchdown passes (behind Pat Sullivan’s 54). Campbell is also Auburn’s all-time leader in passing efficiency (148.20).
Following his college career, Campbell played in the NFL for 10 seasons, with stops at five different franchises. Along with his pregame and halftime radio work at Auburn, he has also been involved with Auburn’s NIL collective On To Victory as part of its staff.
“I’m very pleased and excited that Jason will be carrying the torch into the future as the analyst for the Auburn Sports Network,” White said. “I had the honor of being that analyst for the past 22 years. I also had the pleasure of calling games that Jason was at the helm quarterbacking and leading his team to an undefeated season in 2004. Since 2016, as a member of our network crew, I’ve gotten to know Jason as a friend and colleague. I have zero doubt that he will do an outstanding job.”
