Auburn forward Chris Moore leaves SEC tournament versus Arkansas with injury

Auburn men’s basketball forward Chris Moore left the Tigers’ SEC tournament second-round matchup against Arkansas with an apparent face injury in the first half.

With 10:32 remaining, Moore reached for a loose ball but collided with a Razorback in the low post. Moore was down on the court for several minutes and appeared to be bleeding. Auburn trainers and coach Bruce Pearl checked on the junior, who walked off the court and into the locker room area with a towel pressed against his mouth.

When he left, Auburn trailed 22-15. As the content continued toward halftime, and Auburn’s hovered near double-digits, Moore was back on the bench, jersey untucked. The ESPN broadcast said Moore received stitches for the wound. He reentered the game in the second half but was removed when the gash reopened. The game was temporarily paused to wipe excess blood off the court.

In 28 games, Moore is averaging 15.0 minutes a contest as part of Auburn’s forward rotation. He’s appeared in 28 games, starting 16 of them. He’s averaging 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 points a game.

Either Auburn or Arkansas will play No. 2 seed Texas A&M at 6 p.m. CT on Friday.
