Auburn football names Ian Vachon the starting kicker against Louisiana-Monroe
Auburn football announced walk-on Ian Vachon as the starting kicker for Saturday’s contest against ULM. Vachon, replaces true freshman Towns McGough who got majority of the starts with last year’s starter Alex McPherson out.
Vachon spent two seasons at Birmingham Southern before the school closed. In 2023, he was 1-of-2 on field goal attempts and 2-of-4 on PAT averaging 56.9 yards on 14 kickoffs adding four touchbacks.
A native of Huntsville, Vachon attended Madison Academy high school and was awarded special teams player of the year. He was named to the all-region and all-North Alabama area teams his senior season.
McGough finished 5-of-12 on field goal attempts while starting for the Tigers this year. He missed his last three attempts making room for Vachon’s debut.
Auburn and ULM are set to kickoff at 11:45 a.m. and can be televised on the SEC network.
