– Hugh Freeze is still learning about this rivalry. Still being told the “Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry” name. Asked what the oldest rivalry in the North is, Freeze is told it is Minnesota and Wisconsin

– Freeze said today’s Thursday practice was the best Thursday practice of the year.

– Freeze asked to recap the Texas A&M game and reiterated points he has made throughout the week about penalties in the first half which drastically hurt Auburn and missed receivers that were open. Also then notes all the injuries, especially in the secondary. Freeze thinks Auburn could have had four field goals in the first half.

– Freeze said he still doesn’t see a few of the holding penalties in the Texas A&M game. Freeze said earlier in the week that he filed a few of those plays to the SEC office.

– Freeze also reiterated that he has been working with Payton Thorne on pocket presence during practice this week.

– Asked by a fan who his biggest mentor was, Freeze initially joked Auburn athletic director John Cohen — hey, if that might mean a raise — but then talked about his grandfather and father. Asked who his football mentor was, Freeze said it was former Florida and South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier. Freeze likes to wear visors because of Spurrier, which he was famous for. Freeze said Spurrier used to call him “visor guy.”
