More changes have come to Auburn’s football staff in the wake of Bryan Harsin’s firing, as the bulk of the program’s former Boise State staffers have been shown the door.

Auburn has parted ways with offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau, tight ends coach Brad Bedell, director of recruiting Darren Uscher, chief of staff Brad Larrondo, strength and conditioning coach Jeff Pitman and general manager/director of scouting Drew Fabianich, a source confirmed to AL.com. All of those staffers, except for Fabianich, previously worked with Harsin at Boise State and followed him to Auburn when he took over the program in December 2020.

Those departures leave defensive coordinator Jeff Schmedding as the only assistant with Boise State ties still on staff for the time being.

Kiesau spent four seasons on Harsin’s staff at Boise State, including two as offensive coordinator, before joining his Auburn staff last season as an offensive analyst. He was promoted to wide receivers coach four games into the 2020 season after Harsin fired Cornelius Williams. Kiesau was then promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in the spring, following a turbulent process of replacing former offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.

Kiesau was elevated to offensive coordinator after Harsin’s initial choice, Austin Davis, abruptly resigned from the position just weeks after being hired. He was in the first year of a two-year contract that paid him $800,000 annually.

Bedell was in his second season as Auburn’s tight ends coach. He spent the prior four seasons on Harsin’s Boise State staff as the Broncos’ offensive line coach and run game coordinator. Bedell received a raise in the offseason, bumping his salary to $400,000 this season.

It is unclear at this time who will replace Kiesau and Bedell as on-field assistants for the remainder of the season under interim head coach Cadillac Williams.

Larrondo came to Auburn as Harsin’s chief of staff and associate athletics director after spending the prior 27 years in Boise State’s athletics department. He served in a similar role during Harsin’s final two seasons at Boise State, where he was a liaison for Harsin while also assisting with oversight of the Broncos’ support staff. He provided external support for the program’s fundraising and community outreach and assisted with the direction and growth of the football program. He worked closely with Boise State’s athletics director on sports management and department-wide initiatives.

Uscher served as Auburn’s director of recruiting and player personnel after spending the previous seven seasons at Boise State, including five in the same capacity for the Broncos.

Pitman previously served as strength coach at Boise State under Harsin, while Fabianich joined the program as general manager this summer after previously working as a scout for the Dallas Cowboys. According to a contract obtained by AL.com through a public records request, Fabianich was on a one-year deal worth $225,000 after being hired in July.
