Auburn DB Austin Ausberry to enter transfer portal after two seasons on The Plains
Redshirt freshman defensive back Austin Ausberry is set to become the 10th Auburn player to enter the transfer portal, 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported Tuesday afternoon.
A former four-star prospect out of Baton Rouge, La., Ausberry joined the Tigers in 2022 as Auburn beat out the likes of Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame and Tennessee, among others.
After playing in four games in 2022, Ausberry saw his action shrink in 2023 as he saw the field in just three of Auburn’s 12 regular season games. Ausberry will finish his time at Auburn having tallied just two total tackles.
With Tuesday’s announcement, Ausberry became the second Auburn defensive back to enter the transfer portal as junior Marquise Gilbert announced that he’d be looking to transfer on Dec. 7. As a position group, the Tigers are now set to lose at least four defensive backs as DJ James and Nehemiah Pritchett are both out of eligibility and will turn their attention to the 2024 NFL Draft.
