Auburn basketball’s Johni Broome named SEC player of the week
Auburn basketball’s Johni Broome was named the SEC player of the week Monday afternoon, after a double-double performance against Tennessee.
Playing his first game since suffering an ankle injury against South Carolina, Broome led the Tigers with 16 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks and two steals off the bench.
Auburn’s leading scorer and national player of the year contender is averaging 17.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 3.2 assists on the year.
“It just felt amazing to go out there and compete with my brothers and just go out there and be back on the court with them. This week was very rough. Shoutout Clark, the doc,” Johni Broome said postgame after defeating Tennessee. “Ultimately, I just wanted to get out there and help them win, help them grind it out. It was a rough one, but we got it done.”
Auburn’s next matchup against LSU is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Wednesday and will be streaming live on the SEC network.
