Auburn basketball remains No. 1 in the country after clinching SEC title
After two dominant wins and clinching the Southeastern Conference regular season championship, Auburn men’s basketball remains the unanimous No. 1 team in the country.
It comes after a 30-point home win over Ole Miss and a 16-point road win over Kentucky, Auburn’s first win in Rupp Arena since 1988. The Tigers got every single AP first place vote in Monday’s poll and have now been No. 1 in the AP top 25 for eight straight weeks.
Duke, Houston, Tennessee and Florida round out the top five, meaning three of this week’s top five comes from the SEC. There are eight total SEC teams in the top 25, more than any other conference.
Auburn will finish the regular season this week with two more ranked matchups, facing No. 22 Texas A&M on the road Tuesday night and No. 7 Alabama at home Saturday. Tuesday’s game against the Aggies is scheduled for 8 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.
