Auburn basketball lands high-profile JUCO commitment following Alabama win

After a monumental win the day before, Auburn men’s basketball picked up a huge recruiting win Saturday morning.

The Tigers got a commitment from standout JUCO guard Abdul Bashir, who chose Auburn over Texas A&M, Nebraska, Arizona State and others. Bashir is averaging 28.2 points per game at Casper College in Wyoming this season, ranking second among JUCO players.

Bashir is also the brother of high-scoring Monmouth guard Abdi Bashir Jr., who is averaging 20.2 points per game this season, ranking tenth in Division I.

“I chose Auburn because Coach Pearl and his staff made me feel like a priority and they have a great resume with people like me and are amazing at developing players,” Abdul Bashir told On3.

Bashir joins an Auburn recruiting class that currently includes three signees, all incoming freshmen. Those three include four-star prospects Kaden Magwood, Sebastian Williams-Adams and in-state Huntsville High School standout Simon Walker.

Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class currently ranks No. 16 in the country, according to the 247sports composite rankings.
