Auburn basketball drops to No. 16 in AP top 25 poll after 0-2 week
After losing road games to Alabama and Mississippi State last week, Auburn dropped eight spots to be ranked No. 16 in Monday’s Associated Press top 25 poll.
Auburn had been ranked No. 8 before dropping its two games last week, entering the top 10 for the first time this season on the heels of an 11-game win streak.
In dropping its two road games, Auburn still is without a Quad 1 win this season. Its best win so far based on the NET ratings is Texas A&M, currently ranked No. 44. Since that win came at Neville Arena, that qualifies as a Quad 2 win.
With a 16-4 overall record and 5-2 in the SEC, Auburn is in second place in the conference standings, one game behind Alabama and Tennessee.
This week, Auburn hosts Vanderbilt on Wednesday night at Neville Arena before traveling to face Ole Miss on Saturday. Auburn has previously beaten both teams in January.
