Auburn baseball lands No. 1 available transfer, gets big addition to pitching staff

Former Florida left-handed pitcher Cade Fisher, who was one of the top available players in the transfer portal, has committed to Butch Thompson and the Auburn Tigers.

Fisher announced his commitment in a post to Instagram on Saturday morning.

Fisher’s commitment to Auburn comes after entering the transfer portal on June 28 — a decision he made after a roller-coaster-of-a-season with the Gators in 2024.

During his sophomore campaign this last baseball season, Fisher made nine starts and appeared in 28 games for Florida. Fisher finished the season with a 7.13 ERA, but hurled 76 strikeouts in 59.1 innings of work for the Gators.

Fisher, a native of Dalton, Georgia, started the 2024 season as a weekend starter, but ultimately became a rotational piece in the Gators’ bullpen. Fisher gave Florida four innings in the Gators’ College World Series matchup against NC State, as well as 3.1 innings in Florida’s win-or-go-home regional matchup with Oklahoma State.

As a freshman, Fisher turned in an All-American-worthy season after pitching 49.1 innings, tallying 48 strikeouts and maintaining a 3.10 ERA. He went on to be named to Perfect Game’s Freshman All-American team, as well as the All-SEC Freshman team.

Before committing to Auburn, Fisher weighed other SEC programs, including reigning national champion, Tennessee.

Now set to join the Tigers, Fisher will reunite with former Florida teammate Deric Fabian, who transferred to Auburn last offseason.

The addition of Fisher is another piece of Thompson’s attempt to retool Auburn’s staff of pitchers as he joins LSU transfer RHP Sam Dutton, Creighton RHP Mason Koch and Cal Baptist RHP Ryan Hetzler as recent transfer additions.
